Michelle Hailey: Between the Valleys
Sept. 12, 2009 - Oct. 3, 2009
Opening reception Sept. 12, 2009, 7 p.m. - 10 p.m.
New York-based Michelle Hailey combines painting and collage, often juxtaposing disparate elements with a mysterious effect. The paintings for this show "Between the Valleys" are large scale canvases, which balance vivid color, crisp composition, and a wry sense of humor. Hailey received her MFA from Hunter College in New York. She has participated in many shows in New York, London, Amherst, Philadelphia and Los Angeles, in such venues as Artists Space, NY, Jack Tilton Gallery, NY, Bowery Gallery, NY. She has a Bachelors in Painting from University of California Los Angeles. She has received several grants and awards for her work: the Graf Travel Grant, with which she did research in Iceland, the Artists Space Webspace Artist of the Month, and the UCLA Art Department Project Grant, among others.
