Dorsch Gallery & O, Miami present: Poets of the Unreeled: Outdoor Movietelling at Dorsch

Sunday, April 24 - 7:30pm (performances start at 8)

As part of the O, Miami Poetry Festival, eight Miami and California poets will perform their own wild scripts for excerpts from famous films, TV episodes, and music videos projected from a Batmobile in the Dorsch's dark and dangerous yard.

Drawing on the little-known history of live voice-acting and narration of films by poets all around the world (the katsuben stars of Japan, anticolonial pyonsa of Korea, Weimar-Germany Kinoehrzahler, Brezhnev-era Gavrilov translators, etc.), these works move CinePoesis to a whole new level. With electronic musical accompaniment by Eden Grey and clips from archival benshi and pyonsa performances.

The performing poets will be: Matt Gajewski, Alan Ramon Clinton, Walter K. Lew, Jen Nellis, Vince Caruso, Chris Joyner (with Christina Frigo), Leah Silvieus, Christine Williamson.

This event is a shadoWord production, curated by Walter K. Lew.

In addition to the performances, three solo shows by Jenny Brillhart, Paul Myoda, and Brookhart Jonquil will be on display in the gallery from 7:30-9pm.
