Dorsch Gallery is pleased to present a group exhibition, Let's Begin with a Line.

Let's Begin with a Line is a vignette to observe and enjoy the linear. The works in the show all contain a straight edge or vector. To privilege the mathematical form of the line means that there are associated aesthetic and virtual pleasures - beauty, symmetry and ideality - that are, at times, cut apart or shattered.

Including works by:

Jenny Brillhart
Peter Demos
Katie Hinton
Jiae Hwang
Brookhart Jonquil
Zerek Kempf
JT Kirkland
Jeroen Nelemans
Martin Pelenur
Lee Ranaldo
Ryan Roa
Jennifer Lauren Smith
Robert Thiele

and a poem by Matt Gajewski.

Let's Begin with a Line

A poem by Matt Gajewski

These directions are for planning purposes only.

You may find that
construction projects, traffic,
weather or other events
may cause the intersections
of tangents and secants
to form angles that differ
from the expected results
of Euclidean formulae
and diameters and radii
may extend beyond
circumferences and rays
may extend to infinity
in the direction you least
anticipate and truncated cubes
and pentagonal antiprisms
and rhombidodecadodecahedrons
may impede travel in high-
volume Archimedean solids
and parallel lines may converge
and three lefts may make a left
and you must obey all signs or notices
even if they are in Tagalog, Coptic,
Neo-Hittite, Old Aramaic, Linear A
fines double in uniform prismatic star
polyhedra and Mobius says the end
is never the end and the beginning
is never the beginning and you
may find that you may have found
your destination in theoretical
higher-dimensional space.

Plan your route accordingly.
